Will metal ridge vents attract lightening?

Metal ridge vents will not attract lighting any more or less than the peak/ridge of the house would.

Metal ridge vents will not attract lighting any more or less than the peak/ridge of the house would. If the metal ridge vent were actually struck, it would not do any more harm than if it were plastic, as long as the ridge vent is not connected through to anything else which is metal or through to an electrical circuit. For example, if the metal ridge vent was touching a TV antenna and was struck it would conduct electricity to the antenna, which would most likely be lightning protected, and be dissipated through the antenna ground. It is similar to a car being struck by lightning: the car is electrically insulated and will not conduct electricity, so the passengers are not electrocuted. There is no direct electrical path for the lightning to pass to ground; therefore, no electricity will flow. The rubber tires isolate the metal car from the road (ground).
