The best way to nail ShingleVent II is to fasten through the nail bosses first to position the ridge vent for line and spacing. Next, fasten the ridge cap shingles along the full length. The nails used to fasten the ridge cap shingles are the primary fasteners protecting the ridge vent against wind blow off; therefore it is important to use nails that will penetrate the underside of the roof deck. It is recommended that roofing nails be used (with the large head that is typical of roofing nails).
