Any tips if a roof-mount power fan is installed on a roof with the AC mechanicals in the attic?
Here is some guidance when using a power fan for attic exhaust and the AC is in the attic.
The fact that an air conditioner is located directly beneath a power vent should not present any problems. However, if that unit also includes a gas fired furnace for heating in the winter time, then it is recommended that the combustion supply air be pulled from outside of the house, independent of the attic. This will minimize the potential for any back drafting of the combustion products when the power vent and the furnace are operating simultaneously. It will also be critical to ensure that there is sufficient intake ventilation so that the power vent will draw air from the eaves or low on the roof.
