Can I nail or screw the 1/2 in. x 10 ft. Vinyl Stucco Casing Bead to concrete walls?
This is difficult to do properly and can cause the blocks to break.
While it is possible to nail or screw trim to concrete/block walls as you would drywall, this is difficult to do properly and can cause the blocks to break. Installation is made simple because the vinyl trim is so light weight. Depending on the siding of your home, it is recommended you use a cement adhesive. Temporary mechanical fasteners (nails) should be used while the adhesive sets - typically 24 hours, and removed afterward. Because you are using the nails as a temporary hold, while the adhesive dries, these can be much smaller and therefore reducing the chance of breaking or cracking the blocks. Once the nails are removed the holes should be patched.
