The internal weather filter inside our Edge Vent is designed and intended to be kept inside the vent the life of the vent. Not only is the filter not supposed to be removed/replaced, attempting to do so would be challenging because the 2-piece design of The Edge Vent (top and bottom halves) is sonic-welded together in the manufacturing plant after the filter in positioned inside.
