Is it OK to use a tripolymer sealant or caulk with ShingleVent II to fill the gaps between the vent and dimensional shingles?

It is acceptable to use a tripolymer sealant or caulk with ShingleVent II to fill the gaps between the vent and dimensional shingles.

It is an acceptable application to use a tripolymer type caulk or sealant because basically the caulk will adhere to the shingles and then form a barrier that will keep the weather from entering the gap between the dimensional shingles and the vent. While it is true that the caulk will not adhere to the vent it will still serve the purpose of acting as a barrier.
