Any time fire rated construction is involved it is best to consult with the code to find out if something like this would be acceptable. Most times there are restrictions to prevent the intrusion of embers from adjoining properties or wild land areas so there are additional stipulations involved. Additionally, the attic construction is what primarily governs the acceptability of moving The Edge Vent up the roof or not (that is, whether or not the attic begins at the edge of the roof or up the roof as with open soffits). The Edge Vent is intended to be installed at the edge of the roof where the attic begins. If the attic begins up the roof in the case of open soffits/exposed rafter tails, Air Vent allows The Edge Vent to be moved 2-3 feet up the roof.
