      Is it acceptable to install the solar panel directly into the asphalt shingles using screws?

      It is acceptable to install the solar panel directly over the shingles using screws.

      It is acceptable to install the solar panel directly over the shingles using screws. Screws will be less likely to back out than nails. It is recommended that screws with rubber washers be used and then roofing cement be applied over the screws for maximum protection.
